recycled plastic tote bag

I finished my friend's gift yesterday, just in time to take it over to her with a potted narcissus. It turned out pretty cute, if I do say so myself, I've decided that I really need one in my car to put the trash in.

Thanks, Dana, from made, for the great tutorial!

How many layers of plastic did you iron together? I read the tutorial but wasn't sure if it used 4 or 8 layers of plastic per sheet. I ran out of target bags after my experimenting went wrong. Really want to make this. Yours looks darling!

Mindy - it's plastic shopping bags ironed together, then cut and sewn. click on the link to see the tutorial.

Caroline - I used Target, Wal-mart, Meijer bags and alternated each layer, 8 layers to make one piece of plastic. I want to see pictures when you're done! (I think I almost like the Wal-Mart bags the best, they don't wrinkle as much or something.)
