a new school year

as it has been months since my last post, i am not going to try to catch up before i move on, but will hopefully include some pictures of our summer fun over the next few weeks.

school started over a month ago, and i am just now beginning to feel like i am settling in. i decided not to go back to college this term, it was a wonderful experiment and i'm glad i did it, but the time is not right. i needed to learn a few things from the experience like 1)i'm still smart enough to go to college; 2)i'm truly blessed to be able to stay home and just be a wife and mother and its a hard and rewarding job on its own; and 3)i can still pursue my dreams from home without sacrificing time with my family. i am not missing the boat by staying away for a few more years, the goals i have can be met just as well when i'm 50 as when i'm 40. but i only have Erin here for 3 more years, and they are all growing up so fast.

we are all keeping busy with our various pursuits.

Eric is working a lot and got his pilot's license a few months ago.

Erin is in "Seussical" at the high school and taking hard classes like AP history.

Annie is still a great student and has a full social calendar. she and Erin have started taking ballet classes with me once a week.

Calvin wanted a cell phone, and the deal was that he has to go to Runner's Club at least 2 days a week. he is learning to play the trumpet.

Jack is in the gifted class (LEAP) and goes to the intermediate school one day a week for that. he spent lunch hour of the first day looking for and saying hi to all of the 5th and 6th graders he knows. he cracks me up. he is also playing football again, although their schedule has so many Sunday games that he hasn't been able to play much. i'm proud of how he has made the right choice and not complained.

All 4 kids still take piano and karate.

I am helping with Seussical, taking ballet, building a dollhouse and decorating my bedroom in addition to all of my regular stuff like running errands and taking kids to practice.

Our life is abundant and we are so blessed!

Great post Lydia! I miss you! It was great to get a little update. Your life sounds almost exactly like mine and I totally appreciate your perspective on times and seasons. I need to hear it (and live it)

What's Erin's part in Seussical? That was our school play last year that Afton participated in. She was Mrs. Mayor.

I love Ellis updates! I am so proud of you, somehow you seem to manage lots of crazy, ambitious tasks. AND a ballerina to boot. You are the best!!!!
